Dear Friends and Supporters of TH3 LOT,
As we move through September, we wanted to take a moment to share some updates, challenges, and exciting plans with you. Here’s what’s been happening at Th3 Lot and what’s on the horizon:
Staff Changes & Cost Adjustments
After some wonderful years of service, we’ve (with a broken heart) had to stop working with our paid staff, Jaydeb and Yamuna. To keep things financially sustainable for the project, we’re shifting to working solely with volunteers (for now). We’ll be reducing our cooking from 4-5 days a week down to 2-3 until we have more regular monthly sponsors that give a secure income for us to be able to maintain the project. We’re still holding onto our vision of serving 1 billion plates (just now it will take longer). And, as always, we trust that with Krishna’s grace, anything is possible!
We’ll continue to bring back Jaydeb and Yamuna when we have sponsored days and/or no volunteers, so their presence will remain with us in spirit.
Weather Challenges & Supply Issues
This summer and rainy season has been tough. Our supplies have faced some challenges—ants, rats and other bugs have invaded our stock and storage, and damp wood has made it difficult to light the fire. Still, we’re doing our best to work through the rainy season (which is almost finished) and keep everything running smoothly.
New Flavors on the Horizon
As much as we love kitchari, we’re excited to branch out and cook more opulent meals like halava, biriyani, pakoras, and more. We believe in keeping things fresh and exciting, while still honoring the simple, nourishing meal that kitchari represents. (Stay tuned for more on the benefits of kitchari—it’s a superfood in disguise!)
Kitchen Renovation
We’ve taken time to refresh and reorganize the kitchen, giving it a much-needed makeover. This feels like a fresh start for us, and we’re ready to move forward with a renewed sense of energy.
Expanding Our Vision
As TH3 LOT continues to grow, we’re not just focusing on cooking and serving. We also want to spend more time teaching bhakti philosophy, sharing the glories of Mayapur, and making parikramas (visiting holy places and temples in and around Mayapur). Our vision is to create a global community connected through service, devotion, and shared experiences.
We appreciate your continued support and hope you’ll stay connected with us on this journey. We’re always looking for ways to grow and improve, and we’d love your input!
Feel free to suggest what you’d love to see next from Th3 Lot!
Thank you for being part of our community!
With gratitude,
Urugaya and TH3 LOT Team
